Arguably, one of the most exciting aspects of Minecraft is blowing things up. So, why not make it more efficient and fun? A TNT Duper is the perfect construct to build when you want to make a splash in Minecraft. You may only do this in Minecraft Java Edition rather than Bedrock. But with a Duper, you’ll never have to lose a TNT Block again. In fact, you can create quite the crater in seconds. Remember that because you wouldn’t want something important caught in the middle.

Before we can delight in the utter destruction that’s to come, we need to gather our Minecraft supplies to build our TNT Duper. You’ll need these items:

  • Sticky Piston x1
  • Slime Block x6 (at least)
  • TNT x1
  • Fence or Wall x1
  • Dead Coral Fan (any) x1
  • Detector Rail x1
  • Minecart x1
  • Observer x2
  • Extra blocks

With all this on your Minecraft hotbar, you’re ready to start building your TNT Duper. It’ll go quicker than you realize.

Constructing the Duper

Finally, it’s time for the fun part: building the Minecraft TNT Duper. Ensure you’re not around anything you want to keep as the explosion can quickly spread.

TNT Duper Construction Part 1

We’re going to use our extra Blocks to gain the high ground. About 8-10 blocks high is a comfortable spot.

TNT Duper Construction Part 2

Now, build a backward “L” using x3 Slime Blocks. Attach your TNT Block in front of the lower right-hand corner of the backward “L.” Next, add the Dead Coral Fan to the left of the TNT and the Wall or Fence on top of the TNT.

TNT Duper Construction Part 3

Our next step in constructing our Minecraft TNT Duper is building another backward “L” with x3 Slime Blocks. This time, start where the Wall or Fence is and build to the right. With the backward “L” formed, set your Detector Rail on top of the Slime Block connected to the Wall or Fence. Then place the Minecart on top of that.

TNT Duper Construction Part 4

Finally, we’re nearing the endgame for our Minecraft TNT Duper. From the top right of the second backward “L” Slime Block, build out toward the right using either your extra Blocks or the Sticky Pistons. Anything works. We just need some breathing room.

Break enough blocks until you have one floating out by itself at least two spaces away from the Slime Block. To the left of it, place your Observer. Be sure that your Observer is facing the right way. The red dot must face the Slime Block. From here, break the extra Blocks. You should notice the face of your Observer. Now, in the space between the Observer and the Slime Block, place your Sticky Piston, ensuring that it extends toward the Slime Block.

TNT Duper Construction Part 5

For this final part, there are two ways you can handle it. You can attach a lever and use that to activate your Minecraft TNT Duper. But it’s so much more delightful to use another Observer. Place it next to the first one, and witness the magic.

It’s chaos personified in the best of ways. If you want to stop it without ruining it, simply remove the second Observer. Now you can cause a beautiful mess in seconds.
