Spend a long enough time in Palword, and you’ll find that Ore might be more important than Wood or Stone, especially if you want to progress in tech. Thankfully, the game lets you automate Ore mining through the sweat of your Pals’ brows, and you only have to pay them in Berries and hot baths. Here’s how to mine Ore in Palworld the fast and easy way — and once you get going, it’s a hands-free mega-mining operation.
Step 1: Set Up a Mining Base
You’ll want a mining base surrounded by clusters of Ores if you want to maximize its mining capacity. In the image above, we’ve detailed some ideal spots for your base. Once you’ve chosen, set up a Palbox right in the middle of an Ore cluster, ensuring you get as many Ores as you can fit in the Palbox’s radius.
This way, the Pals doing the mining will mine as many Ores as possible in the Palbox’s territory radius. Naturally, this is also where you’ll place the Pals who will farm or maintain the place for miners.
What to Build in the Mining Base?
While you’re at it, make sure you build a Storage Box right next to the Palbox. This way, you can easily move Ores to your main bases (via Palbox teleport) despite being heavily encumbered.
Additionally, you need to build Straw Pal Beds depending on how many Pals will be working in your mining operation.
Of course, a Feed Box is mandatory, along with a Berry Plantation to sustain the mining Pals. Last but not least, build some Hot Springs and their supporting structures to help your mining Pals de-stress and relax.
To sum it up, these are the crucial structures:
- Palbox (in the middle of Ore clusters)
- Storage Box (right next to the Palbox)
- Straw Pal Beds (number depends on how many Pals you have working)
- Feed Box
- Berry Plantation (around two or three)
- Hot Spring
If you’re in multiplayer, you might also want to build some walls around the radius of the Palbox or the base in case a violent stray Pal encroaches or if other players decide to steal from you.
Step 2: Collect the Miners
We’ll divide the mining Pals based on their tasks. Of course, there are the miners, and to help them sustain your automated Ore mining operation indefinitely, you need maintenance Pals.
We have recommendations for each kind of Pal that will help you mine Ore in Palworld. Check the map images above and below for locations on ideal mining Pals.
Miner Pals
We have three main candidates for these Pals. They will attack the Ore nodes as long as you place them in the Palbox of the Mining Base you just set up.
- Digtoise (map image with the red circle)
- Dumud (map image with the red circle; clustered with Digtoise)
- Tombat (map image with the blue circle; appears only at night)
Again, do be aware that Tombat only appears at night.
Of the three, we highly recommend the Tombat since they can mine at night, whereas the other two might need to sleep. Digtoise mines the highest amount but also eats a lot.
Maintenance Pals
To run your mining operation smoothly in Palworld, you need some helpers. They’re easier to find than the miner Pals and won’t give you much of a fight when you’re catching them. Here they are, each with their intended maintenance tasks:
- Cattiva – These cats will haul the fallen Ore to the Storage Box, which is crucial in this operation. Moreover, they will help harvest Berries from the Berry Plantations. Actually, any Pal with a Transportation Skill will do; it’s just that Cattivas are the most accessible.
- Dumud – Apart from attacking Ore nodes, the Dumud can also splash some water on your Berry Plantations, ensuring that your Mining Base Pals have an infinite supply of food to sustain them.
With this setup, you don’t need to intervene at all unless you’re in multiplayer or if someone steals from your Mining Base.
Step 3: Haul the Ore in Palworld
Moving the Ore around is simple enough. If you’ve built the Storage Box next to the Palbox in the Mining Base, you can just grab the Ore and teleport to your other bases.
Before you do that, though, you’ll also want to ensure that the base you’re teleporting to also has a Palbox + Storage Box combo (side-by-side) so you can offload the Ore. That’s because you’ll be weighed down so much by the Ore you might not be able to move.
Once the Ore is in the Storage Box in your target main base (preferably one with a Foundry), you can just smelt the Ore and turn it into Ingots. Rinse and repeat Step 3 to receive unlimited Ore from your fully automated farm in Palworld.
