Mowing down hordes of monsters? Collecting piles of juicy power-ups? Petting the dog? We know what the real priority is in HoloCure. You’ll have plenty of time to vanquish the bad guys and save the realm after. First, there’s Bubba. This lovable dog is an optional power-up, and petting him is even more optional. Doing so won’t affect the over-the-top anime combat in any way, but rewarding a precious pup sure feels good and will earn you an achievement. Here’s how to pet Bubba in HoloCure.

HoloCure has many different characters. Each of them has a unique starting weapon and unique skills. For example, Amelia Watson, one of the first available characters, uses a Pistol Shot in combat. In addition, you can unlock her skill called Bubba.

Bubba is your faithful dog who will run around the field and attack random enemies. At level one, it will deal 100% of your base damage. But after a couple of upgrades, Bubba can reach 300% of your base damage per hit and learn to stun enemies for 2 seconds. In other words, this is a very useful companion and deserves to be petted. In addition, you can get an achievement for this.

How to Get You Can Pet the Dog Achievement

Bubba’s secret mechanic isn’t mentioned in the game, but it’s not hard to discover. You won’t even need to go fishing or engage in other side activities to trigger it. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Select Amelia Watson before the run
  2. Level up until you unlock the Bubba skill
  3. Approach Bubba and hold down the “P” button
  4. Don’t move or press other keys (doing so will interrupt the animation)

While petting Bubba, the camera will zoom in so you can get a better look at the cute dog. It will also unlock the You Can Pet the Dog achievement. Be careful, however, as enemies can still damage you while you pet Bubba. It won’t boost your stats or otherwise help you in combat, but petting Bubba is a good reward for a good digital doggo. Good enough for us.
