As you progress through Baldur’s Gate 3, you must complete many unique quests. But some are not as obvious as they seem at first glance. So, when you find a burning house, you immediately rush to explore it to get additional content, but not everyone is ready to use the Speak with Dead ability to go further. Your main goal during Rescue the Trapped Man is to find and help Benryn and get a unique dowry, and here we’ll show you how to do it.
Where To Find Benryn in Baldur’s Gate 3
To find Benryn in Baldur’s Gate 3, enter the burning house and go up the stairs on the right side to the second floor. But the whole building is on fire, and the smoke only complicates the situation. So make a save in advance so that you can try again. To succeed, you must act quickly and do the following:
- Reaching the second floor, destroy the burnt door to your right. You can use melee attacks, but in this case, all nearby characters are knocked back and will take damage. So we recommend using ranged magical attacks (although arrows and crossbow bolts should help too).
- Enter the room and go to its far left corner to find Benryn pressed under the burning planks.
- Next, you must choose a Strength or Investigation check (choose based on your strengths) and get a dice score above 10 to free Benryn.
Once you save Benryn, you have to get him out of the house, and you have two options. You keep looking for his wife with him or take him outside and look for his wife and dowry without him. And below, we will consider both options.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Find Dowry and Complete Rescue the Trapped Man
If you decide to take Benryn outside and continue without him, go into turn-based mode and take all of your characters and Benryn outside. After that, go to the next house to find the dead body of his wife named Miri on the second floor. Use the Speak with Dead ability and talk to her to know the dowry’s location. You only need to visit the barn next to the house and collect the dowry chest by interacting with the haystack.
Once you have the treasure, you can keep it or give it to Benryn. It will affect subsequent events somewhat, but not too much. There is also a chance that Benryn will not believe in the death of his wife, and you will have to prove it to him by pointing to her corpse.
Based on the above, the second method is easier since Benryn will immediately see Miri. To trigger this outcome, you must blow up the passage (wooden planks in the window) next to where you freed Benryn. Next, take all the characters to the roof between the houses and go to the next building. Next, you will all find the corpse of Miri together and repeat the plot of the previous method. The exception is that you will see a short cutscene, and you won’t have to prove anything to Benryn. You can immediately go to the barn and pick up the Dowry ring. So the choice is all yours.
