Not to be confused with the small shrine northwest of the Lake, the Large Cave Shrine contains a puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake that players must solve if they want to get their hands on the Apostate’s Head collectible. You can find the Large Cave Shrine next to the Mural Cave, southwest of the Boat House. Similar to the Small Cave Shrine, this large cavern’s puzzle involves searching for yellow-painted symbols inside the grotto and using them as the solution to the passcode required to open a locked door. Continue reading to learn exactly where each of these markings is located.

Inside the Large Cave Shrine in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will find three yellow symbols to solve the location’s puzzle. While the markings are the same for every player, you need to make sure you push the buttons for the locked door in the correct order; otherwise, the mechanism will not unlock the entrance to the treasure chamber.

Based on gameplay footage by YouTuber Somewhat Awesome Games, the first symbol is a circle-shaped marking missing two parts of its radius. You can find it on a massive stalagmite spiraling up from the ground. Continue deeper into the Large Cave Shrine in Resident Evil 4 Remake to reach an area with two standing wooden braziers. Head to the right side of this chamber and face the torches in such a way that the central stalagmite is in between the two braziers. You will see the second symbol, which looks like an onion sprout next to the mandibles of an insect.

Finally, go down the ladder on the right and stand next to the two barrels near the water. Face the wall adjacent to the ladder to view the final symbol: the spout of a volcano or possibly a fountain. Climb back up the ladder and approach the device with buttons beside the grotto’s locked door. Input the Large Cave Shrine puzzle solution in the same order we discovered the three symbols:

  1. Circle
  2. Two inverted pointy shapes adjacent to each other
  3.  a volcano erupting

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStations 4|5.
