In Diablo IV, Bosses can sometimes seem unrelenting, especially World Bosses. However, there is a way for you to gain the upper hand, even if it is only temporary. You can stagger Bosses in Diablo IV, giving you precious seconds to land as many hits as possible. We’ll show you how you can successfully utilize the Staggering System to make every Boss fight easier.
How to Stagger Bosses in Diablo IV
There’s no denying that Diablo IV has delighted players in the beta version, leaving them eagerly anticipating the full release. In the meantime, you can prepare yourself for the game by understanding some tips and tricks.
One of those is the Staggering System. Once you understand it, you can promptly stagger bosses and give yourself some breathing room during those tougher fights in Diablo IV.
There is not a singular button you can press for this option, however. Instead, you’ll have to build it up.
To do this, as you battle a Boss, pay attention to the yellow bar that is located right underneath the health bar. Once you fill the yellow bar up, the Boss will stagger.
They will fall down completely defenseless and harmless to you for around 12 seconds or so. This is the perfect time for you to jump into the fray and land as many hits as you can.
Also, if you stagger Bosses in Diablo IV, this gives you a chance to breathe or recover some health if the fight is not going quite as well on your end.

With how useful this mechanism is, the only way you can achieve this is to use Control Effects. These include the likes of stunning, freezing, and more. Control Effects will fill up that yellow bar. So, if you are taking on these Bosses with other players, you can work together and make the process that much faster.
Some Bosses can see an additional lasting impact from the Staggering System too beyond going down for a few seconds. For instance, in the beta, the World Boss Ashava the Pestilent loses one of the blades on her front arm after being Staggered. This weakens her for the remainder of the fight.
Other Bosses will experience unique effects such as this, so keep in mind how you can Stagger them so you’re ready for when Diablo IV releases.
Diablo IV releases on June 6, 2023 for PC, PS5/PS4, and Xbox One/Series.
