Feeding an Equus in Ark Survival Evolved
There are a few different types of food that Equus enjoy. We tend to use Rockarrots to tame them, which can only be grown from seeds rather than discovered throughout the map. However, when Rockarrots are unavailable, you can easily use berries or kibble. Depending on your platform, Dilophosaur or Simple Kibble are best when taming an Equus in Ark Survival Evolved.
Once you’ve obtained the food to tame them, you must sneak up on an Equus to feed it. Equus are creatures that require you to tame them passively, which is part of what makes them so difficult to tame. Before you sneak up on an Equus, having some Gille gear on is best. Move slowly and crouch when possible to tame Equus in Ark Survival Evolved.
Riding an Equus
Once you’ve fed an Equus once, it’s time to hop on its back and hold on for dear life. When you approach the Equus, you can ride it, assuming you have fed it once. However, once you hop on its back, it’ll try its best to buck you off. Use food to calm it down and stay on until the horse is calm around you. Hop back off, and now you can regularly feed the Equus without fear of it running away until it is completely tamed.
