When a Zombies map is located almost exactly where Origins was in a different universe, expecting one of the Staff wonder weapons isn’t a surprising wish. Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb map does take some small twinkles to the Origins here and there, but the real deal is the Staff of Ice that you can create and upgrade by completing a few easter egg quests.
How To Unlock The Ice Staff
If you want to spin the Ice Staff like I do in the image above, you’ll need to solve 2 puzzles and survive a massive zombies horde unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Oh and the puzzles themselves give you a few elite zombies like our lovely Doppelghasts to deal with, good luck!
Ice Staff Piece 1
So there are three pieces you need to obtain to create the Ice Staff: The monocle, the head, and the staff. The first one is very easy to get and it’s got no puzzles at all. Just kill the Mimic that spawns on round 8, and the first Ice Staff piece in The Tomb Black Ops 6 Zombies map is yours.
Ice Staff Piece 2
For the second piece, you’ll have to go to the exact location above to find a painting on the wall. Remember this room, and now go outside and look for the Aether Crystals that are either on the torch places or hanging from the ceiling.
It looks like the one you see in the image above. Shoot it, and it’ll move to the next room. Shoot the crystal as many times as it takes until it reaches the room we noted. Here, it’ll make the painting’s puzzle pop out. You first think these stuff are symbols on the wall, but they’re nothing but Roman numerals.
So carefully shoot the numbers in order and the puzzle is solved. Here’s the help you need to solve this Ice Staff easter egg in The Tomb Black Ops 6 Zombies map:
- I = 1
- II = 2
- III = 3
- IV = 4
- V = 5
- VI = 6
- VII = 7
- VIII = 8
- IX – 9
- X- 10
Once you shoot the numerals in order correctly, an orb appears, traveling across the room. Nothing scary, just a couple of armored zombies and elites to deal with. Shoot them all down and you’ll be well-rewarded with a Max Ammo and the Ice Staff’s head. Two pieces down, one to go.
Ice Staff Piece 3
The final Staff of Ice piece is located in another room that has a painting of an ox on the wall. Same drill, different room; shoot the Aether Crystal and make it move to this room. But remember, there are two places for the crystal here, so if you got the purple thing here and the puzzle didn’t pop, shoot it again. Look up the images above, it got me chasing my tale for a few minutes too.
Once you’ve got to the puzzle, you’ll need to shoot the numbers again from 1. And, the ritual begins with a horde of zombies and elites attacking you. Make sure you have an upgraded weapon and at least a level 2 armor before attempting this trial. If you kill all the zombies successfully, the staff appears. Take it, and go on to the Dark Aether section of the map for the final step of creating the Ice Staff in The Tomb Black Ops 6 Zombies map.
Ice Staff Creation Defense
Welcome! To where you’ll face one of the hardest challenges in Black Ops 6 Zombies. You need to be super tanky and robust for this section, as there’ll be too many zombies, vermins, and annoying parasites to kill. You need to reach the structure you see in the middle of the map, and then place the staff items in it by pressing the interact button. There’s no button prompt, no.
Now, you’re either damn strong to kill all the zombies and prevent them from stopping the staff creation process, or, you’re a lucky soul like me and find yourself an Insta-Kill. The beauty of the annihilation my friends! Kill them all. Once you survive the horde, the Staff of Ice in The Tomb Black Ops 6 Zombies map is all yours.
The Staff of Ice is cool, but it’s not as efficient as we thought before the map’s release. However, did you know there’s an upgrade quest that you can accomplish and make this gun overpowered?
How To Upgrade The Ice Staff
Let me guess, you have got the Ice Staff and it’s not even close to what you thought, right? That’s because you need to upgrade the Ice Staff to give it the healing and charged shot abilities. But, you need to know that this quest is a part of the headache festival of The Tomb.
Step 1 – Shoot The Crystals
Remember the Aether crystals you shot to get the Ice Staff in The Tomb? Now you need to freeze 3 of them. This is probably one of the hardest challenges there is in Black Ops 6 Zombies as you need to shoot all 3 crystals in under 10 seconds! I’ve failed this challenge for more than I can remember, so I’ll be sharing everything you need to know and do to get it done on your first try.
So while it seems quite impossible to go from one side of the cave to the other, there’s a way to get this done. Shooting the crystals with ordinary guns forces them to switch their position, and we need to use this to our advantage here. The goal is to align the Aether lanterns to sit anywhere close to each other.
The cave has three main sections, and four crystals spawn each time. So, one side of the map has two crystals, and we need to start from there. Shoot the crystals with your normal weapon until they get closer in position, and then check the one in the middle section of the cave.
It’s got to be two crystals from one side and one from the middle. Also, try your best to shoot the first crystal from the longest range possible. Stand somewhere near the second Aether crystal and shoot the first one using the Ice Staff. This is the boost you need to take down all three under 10 seconds. If you’ve done the steps correctly, Sir Archibald will start talking.
If you don’t freeze all 3 crystals in time, the step will be reset and you need to shoot all the frozen crystals to change their position again. If you’ve received the audio cue, then it’s time to go into the Dark Aether and continue to the second step for upgrading the Ice Staff in Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb.
Step 2 – Puzzle Portal
You are looking for three rocks with a purple symbol under them here in the Dark Aether Nexus. All three are somewhere in the middle of the map, and they should look like the ones you see in the images above. The symbols will be randomly generated though.
The rocks are high up at first, and you can spot their symbol with a sniper rifle’s scope. But, if you shoot them with the Ice Staff, they come closer to the ground so that you can note the shapes. Now once you’ve got all three, remember them, and check the portals around the map. One of the doorways has to be blocked.
If you’ve spotted the blocked portal, enter another one and reach the one that’s closed from its back. You’ll see that there are 8 symbols attached behind the gate, and you’ll need to only shoot the ones you’ve noted from under the Dark Aether rocks. No particular order. And you need to take the shots with Ice Staff.
After that, the portal opens, once you enter, you start from on top of a rock with an Aether orb sitting right in front of you. Be quick and interact with the orb before falling down to start the final Ice Staff upgrade quest in Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb.
Step 3 – Follow The Orb
This orb is a soul box, but you need to stick to it or it’ll perish. If you fail, you’ll need to wait until the next round and shoot the same 3 symbols again to start the quest, so, no worries. Once you start, however, a ton of zombies will attack as if they’ve personal problems with you.
The main goal here is to kill normal zombies to feed the orb as much as possible. So if you see elite bosses hanging around, do your best to ignore them and stick to the plan. If you’re playing with friends, one of you can get rid of the elites so that you can focus fire on the normal zombies and stick to the orb.
You’ll know that you’ve done this step for upgrading the Ice Staff in The Tomb correctly if the orb charges the whole in the middle of this structure you see above. The player with the Ice Staff then has to interact with it and the powering animation begins.
The upgraded version of the Ice Staff in Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb map adds the ability to charge shots and heal your teammates with alt fire. You’ll need the healing shot of the staff for your next steps in The Tomb map’s main easter egg quest.
