In Act 3, you can visit Lorroakan’s domain as part of Gale’s quest or just on your own, and loot rare magical artifacts. You will find there a huge amount of loot that will be useful to you in further travels and battles. Next, you will learn how to unlock the Sorcerous Vault in Baldur’s Gate 3. The path will be challenging, and full of traps and puzzles, so be well-prepared before going there. Below, we’ll provide all the instructions you need to maximize your chances of success.
How To Reach the Sorcerous Vault in Baldur’s Gate 3
After you unlock access to Lower City, you will be able to visit what is probably the main building in the area, namely Sorcerous Sundries, at the following coordinates: X:10, Y:-90.
When you arrive here, you will need to go to the second floor of the building, where the portals are located. On the left, near the blue portal, you will notice a locked door, which is where you have to go. For further passage, we recommend regrouping and choosing only one character with high agility, such as Astarion. After doing so, use a spell or ability that will make him invisible to pick the lock and enter the closed room. To do so, you will have to make a Dexterity check with a DC 15.
If you do it right, you’ll enter the room and here you’ll notice the Clasped Book on the bookshelf. Interact with it to open a portal that will appear in another part of the room, and then enter it.
BG3: How To Pass Sorcerous Vault
After you enter the portal, you will be able to get into a complex of vaults, where you have several chests on the sides and a door in front of you. You can walk around and loot everything you need, but be careful because there are many invisible traps. We recommend detecting and disarming them to avoid getting caught in the future, and here you can use the spell that reveals invisible objects, or Detect Invisibility passive if you have it.
When you’ve done everything you need to do in the main room, you can go through the Oak door. After that, there is a small corridor that will lead you to the Ramazith door. Use the weapon to break it and get into the final room. Here again, there will be doors, but there are 3 pieces, namely:
- Elminster
- Silverhand
- Karsus
The title of each door refers to the names of once-powerful wizards, and by solving the puzzles you can get rare artifacts. And now, you are one step closer to unlocking the Sorcerous Vault in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Enter the Karsus Vault
After exploring the room, you’ll understand that only the door marked Silverhand is open, and that’s where you need to start. Follow these steps to successfully complete the puzzle:
- When you enter the door, you will find yourself in a room identical to the previous one, but the number of doors has increased to 4, and the name of the door has also changed. Among all the options, you will need to enter the door marked Abjuration.
- Again, the room is identical, but now there are 5 doors. Look for the one that is marked Silver and enter it.
- Now you will enter a small room with a lightning trap and a lever. Go around the trap and interact with the lever to open the Karsus door.
- When you’re done, return to the previous room and enter any door, avoiding the traps. This will take you back to the main room.
When you return, you will notice that the Karsus doors are open. Behind it will be a small corridor leading to the Karsus Vault, head there to avoid the traps. Inside, you can find many useful items, including:
- Legendary Annals of Karsus book
- Foebreaker
- Scroll of Dethrone
After looting everything you need, you can go back to try to get into the Elminster door. Congratulations, you almost unlocked the Sorcerous Vault in Baldur’s Gate 3. Let’s move to the next step!
BG3: How To Enter the Elminster Vault
The method of opening Elminster Vault is identical to that of Karsus Vault and differs only in the doors you need to interact with. Here are the steps you need to do:
- Enter Sliverhand Doors
- Enter Evocation Doors
- Enter Wish Doors
- Avoid the trap and interact with the lever to open the Elminster door.
- When you’re done, go back to the previous room and interact with any door to get back to the start.
Now, you can visit the Elminster Vault and rob it of all its treasures, including the main finds, namely:
- Tharchiate Codex
- Pyroquickness Hat
