In the ever-changing meta of Helldivers 2, the 500kg bomb stratagem stands as a popular one. This shouldn’t be a surprise since its destructive capabilities speak for itself. However, before you can join the ranks of the hundreds of thousands of players who use it, you’ll need to grind levels and requisition slips. Still, once you unlock it, Bile Titans and Hulks will fear you, provided you don’t aim the stratagem at your teammates’ faces.
How To Get the 500kg Bomb in Helldivers 2
Similar to other stratagems in Helldivers 2, you can unlock the 500kg Bomb via the Ship Management menu. Here’s what you must do to obtain it:
- Head to the ship’s terminal.
- Scroll down until you reach the Hangar category.
- Purchase the Eagle 500KG Bomb for 10,000 requisition slips.
- Note: You must be level 15 to unlock the option to purchase it.
Like other Eagle stratagems, you must re-arm it after you use it, so be sure to make every bomb count. Thankfully, it doesn’t have limited uses like other air support weapons, so you’ll be safe to call this strike as long as your Eagle pilot gets more ammo.
Is the 500KG Bomb Worth Getting?
This might be a subjective opinion, but after a bit of experimentation, we can nudge you in the right direction. At first, the 500kg Bomb seemed like the only viable stratagem for level nine missions and above. While it is helpful, its area of effect is too small. What does this mean? If you don’t have the precision of a professional stratagem thrower, you’ll be wasting this bomb constantly. For example, we’ve thrown this stratagem next to a Charger, and due to its small radius, it doesn’t even kill this foe, which isn’t ideal. On the other hand, if you feel you have a good aim, you can one-shot even a Bile Titan with it, but we still feel it isn’t the best stratagem in the game.
Ultimately, the choice is yours. Watching the 500kg Bomb go off in Helldivers 2 is a democratic marvel, and it can get you out of some dicey situations. But until this stratagem gets a buff, there are others that deserve a spot in your loadout.
