You might want to upgrade your weapons in The First Descendant to overpower the Vulgus. Or, you could be wondering why on Albion you spend hours unlocking the Thunder Cage SMG just to figure its DPS is in the 170s like I did. Well, the weapon upgrade system in The First Descendant is quite different, even with a Workbench involved. But don’t worry about your Ultimate Weapon; we’ll keep your ducks in a row and help your rifle roar with a quick guide.

So here’s the deal — you need to find high-level weapons as your quest rewards or ground loot to upgrade your weapons in The First Descendant. Yes, this is strange, but this is the way. Here’s how you do it step by step:

First, find a high-level weapon that’s stronger than your own gun, at least in level numbers. Say if your weapon is level 18, you can upgrade it to 26 if you find a level 26 firearm in your journey.

Albion Workbench Location

Take your rifle and the higher-level weapon to Albion. You’re looking for the Workbench in this area, which is right across from where Anais researches stuff for you in The First Descendant.

Now, if you select the Weapon Level Transmission option, you’ll get to choose a main gun and the one from which you want to take the levels. Remember, the weapon selected from which you’re taking the higher levels will be destroyed afterward. Do that, and your main gun upgrades to the same mark as the sacrificed weapon in The First Descendant.

Warning: If you have the main and higher level weapon ready but the upgrade is not commencing, that’s where you need Phase Exchangers. This element is needed to upgrade your weapons in The First Descendant, and it usually doesn’t cost more than 50,000 for the finest version of it.

You’ll need Precision Phase Exchangers for high-tier weapons like the Thunder Cage and normal Phase Exchangers for low-tier guns. As for creating them, you’ll have to ask Anais to research them for you. The cost is some basic material that you’d get by scrapping your unwanted and low-level weapons in the inventory.
