Well-Skating is a technique players use in Destiny 2 to perform speed runs and skip complex jumping puzzles. The Destiny 2 community has consistently discovered different methods to skate, as skating is essentially a glitch caused by combining different actions in rapid succession. Although Bungies attempts to thwart skating, the Well-Skate technique has persevered and is the easiest speed run ability to learn. Well-Skate isn’t just used for moving fast; it can be essential for completing each encounter in the Root of Nightmares Raid. This guide will explain how to Well-Skate in Destiny 2.

How the Well-Skate Works in Destiny 2

The Well-Skate started as sword-skating early in Destiny 2’s life, but when the sword perk, Eager Edge, was introduced in the 30th Anniversary expansion, Well-Skating was born. To Well-Skate, you will need a handful of specific things first.

  1. You need a Warlock with the Solar subclass equipped.
  2. You must select and equip the Well of Radiance super move.
  3. You need a sword equipped with the perk Eager Edge in your heavy slot.

How To Use Well-Skating in Destiny 2

Once you have fulfilled all three requirements, you can begin mastering this difficult technique. To perform the Well-Skate technique, your sword must be equipped with a decent amount of heavy ammo and a full super meter.

Once ready, you must rapidly execute four commands to pull off a successful Well-Skate. First, you must swap to your sword and immediately use the heavy attack to trigger Eager Edge. Then, almost instantly, press Jump and Super Attack simultaneously. If you pull it off correctly, you will cancel your Well of Radiance and fly through the sky at light speed. This is useful for tricky platforming sections or learning how to speed run Destiny 2 content.

Well-Skating is difficult, so we suggest you create a Private Match in Crucible and give yourself infinite super energy to practice until you get the timing down. Once you develop the muscle memory, you will be Well-Skating across every location Destiny 2 offers.
