Here we will tell you everything about the Tide of Shadows event in Hunt Showdown. Monster hunters are excited because a new event has appeared in the game and brought a lot of interesting updates. New pacts, missions, and a wild target called Rotjaw await you. The event will last for quite a long time, namely from June 28 to August 23, so don’t miss the chance to try it. See below for all the information about what awaits you.

What is the Hunt Showdown: Tide of Shadows Event?

The new event brings with it a new enemy. You will face the terrifying Rotjaw monster, which is hiding in the deep swamps. You will not be able to find it in the compound because it is only in the open waters and is waiting for you to come to it. In addition, you will only be able to meet it at three times of the day, namely:

  • Night
  • Serpent’s Night
  • Thundershower

When you defeat a boss, you can banish it like other bosses. When Rotjaw is defeated, all hunters on the map will know about it, and you will receive 1 Bounty Token as a bonus.

New Pacts

Also, during the Tide of Shadows Event in Hunt Showdown, you will have three new pacts to choose from, namely:

  • The Smuggler Pact
  • The Grounded Pact
  • The Primal Pact

Hunters who attended the last event, called Devil’s Moon, can join one of these three Pacts to get unique benefits. To get these benefits, you will need to earn Pledge Marks.

Pledge Marks

Pledge Marks can be used to purchase Traits, which will give you benefits in combat, which we will also talk about below. To get Pledge Marks, you need to complete missions. You can earn no more than 3 Pledge Marks per mission, and you can have no more than four available. Here’s what you can get Pledge Marks for:

  • The first time you collect 20 event points, you will receive a Pledge Mark.
  • For the first target, you banish.
  • You will also receive a Pledge Mark for the first hunter you kill.

In the last two cases, you will receive event points instead of a Pledge Mark if you get more than 3 Pledge Marks.

Traits

When you have collected the maximum number of Pledge Marks, you will wonder where you can spend them. The answer is simple – Traits. As always, the game will have available traits that will give you a certain advantage in battle. They can be divided into two categories, namely:

  • Normal Traits
  • Burn Traits

Burn Traits are new traits that only give you an advantage in combat once. To use them again, you will need to purchase them from Pledge Posts. You can exchange all your Pledge Marks for Traits by interacting with Trait Charms. You can buy several Traits at once, depending on your chosen pact.  Below is a table with all the traits, their prices, and the pacts they belong to.

Pacts Trait name Trait Type Benefits Cost
All Pacts Death Cheat Normal You won’t lose your hunter if you fail to extract, but you will lose equipment and Health Chunks. 3 PM
Smuggler Pact Mariner Normal When falling rain, you partially regenerate. If you enter the water, the regeneration effect will increase significantly. 1 PM
Gunrunner Burn After leaving the match, you can remove the Contraband status from your weapon. 2 PM
Grounded Pact Shadow Normal All monsters (except Boss Targets and Wild Targets) cannot see you, but they can hear you. 1 PM
Remedy Burn In a range of up to 25 meters, when you use Dark Sight, you can interact with the trait to regenerate life for your teammates. 2 PM
Primal Pact Instinct Normal In Dark Sight mode, you can see when enemy Hunters are nearby (75 m range). 1 PM
Relentless Burn When your Hunter downed, he won’t lose a Health Chunk. 2 PM

Event Points

You will also earn event points throughout the game, for which you will receive rewards. There are many ways to get these points, here’s the whole list:

Objectives Rewards
Destroy Ship Altar 2 EP
Interacting with a Ship Altar 4 EP
Explore Event Clue or Rift 6 EP
Loot Enemy Hunter 8 EP
Banish an Enemy 10 EP
Become Soul Survivor or extract with a Bounty 20 EP
Complete Challenge Milestones 500-1000 EP

As you can see, there are tasks related to Ship Altars among them. This is also one of the new things added to the game. You can interact with them to get more event points. You can also destroy them if you notice an enemy nearby. Once destroyed, the Ship Altar will significantly damage the enemy, and you will receive fewer event points than if you interacted with it.

That’s everything you need to know about the Tide of Shadows event in Hunt Showdown. Good luck!

Hunt: Showdown is available for PCs, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
