CD Projekt RED held a special Cyberpunk 2077 event in the past month and announced an eagerly awaited Cyberpunk DLC expansion named Phantom Liberty. It seems CD Projekt RED wants to make fans forget the issues of the game when it first arrived by teaming up with another celebrity after Keanu Reeves. During The Game Awards 2022, the studio announced that Idris Elba has joined the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion, which will be released in 2023. We also have an exciting teaser trailer.
Idris Elba Joins Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
CD Projekt RED revealed a fresh teaser trailer for Phantom Liberty, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 spy-thriller expansion, at The Game Awards 2022. The teaser features all new in-game and gameplay footage and the reveal of a new cast member.
The teaser shown at the annual awards gala gives players an all-new look at Night City’s Dogtown, where the expansion will be primarily set, as well as flashes of gameplay and brand-new additions. The teaser also reveals new characters, chief among them Solomon Reed. The new character is played by actor Idris Elba (Luther, Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, The Suicide Squad), who’s joining the cast of Phantom Liberty alongside Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, Reed is a veteran New United States of America agent, and apparently, the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival.
Game director Gabriel Amatangelo detailed the expansion as follows:
- Complete overhaul of the police system
- Vehicle-to-vehicle combat
- New gameplay loop for melee
- New actions in the perk tree
- More Cyberware
- (Phantom Liberty Specific) The new cast of characters (Solomon Reed, aka Idris Elba)
- (Phantom Liberty Specific) Expanding on a district in Night City
- (Phantom Liberty Specific) Johnny Silverhand, aka Keanu Reeves, to return
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023, with an exact release date and pricing to be revealed.
