An Illinois TikToker faces backlash after posting a video claiming she encountered a racist baby. However, her comments have not been well received. Another woman, Outspoken Samantha, responded to the video and has received over 108,000 views, over 9,000 likes, and over 1,000 comments.
The alleged incident occurred while the Illinois influencer was out with a friend. During which she claims she “literally saw a racist baby” who allegedly was “staring at [her] friend, who is a person of color.” The staring happened for about thirty seconds. She explains that the baby was in the carriage and gave her friend a strange look. Additionally, she claims that the mom of the “white baby” was giving the same look.
However, Samantha argues that this is just normal baby behavior. She argues, “The most absurd thing that happened to me today was that I heard someone refer to a baby as racist.” Additionally, she fires back that the Illinois influencer said that because the baby was white and her friend wasn’t, she assumed any look given was racist. According to Samantha, she’s so busy “looking for incidents of racism” that she doesn’t notice how “babies of the same race” look at adults. She says, “That’s what babies do, they stare at people.”
Several Call Out Illinois TikToker’s Comments
Several commenters call her out. One person claims she’s clearly out of ideas: “Somebody is really reaching for content ideas.” Others worry she is serious about her accusation. One comment reads, “The fact she’s so serious is terrifying to me.” Another agrees, “It’s so scary that these people actually believe these things. It sounds so loony, yet these people are dead serious.”
Others argue that babies just stare, such as one who says, “My baby gave the wall a dirty look for about 30mins. She’s definitely racist towards that wall.” Another adds, “These ppl are absolutely ridiculous! Babies don’t know color like that.” A third commenter says, “I’ve seen babies stare at a lamp for up to like 5 minutes straight.”
The Illinois woman hasn’t responded to the backlash on the video. However, she has posted other videos regarding racism.
