Nebraska Homeowner Sparks Debate After Catching ‘Disrespectful’ Amazon Driver Cutting Through Landscaping: ‘He Went Out of His Way to Use the Grass’

He saw a faster path and took it

Some people go to great lengths to keep their lawns spick and span, which is why one Nebraska homeowner felt rather irate after catching an Amazon driver cutting through their landscaping. In a post on r/mildlyinfuriating, H2O_is_good_for_you shared a Ring camera clip of the delivery driver dropping off the package. After a quick look around, he chose to walk across the mulch and grass instead of the driveway back to his car.

Does it bother anyone else when they choose to walk through your landscaping and grass when there is a clear path to take the pavement?

The driver’s deliberation was pretty obvious to everyone; as a Redditor put it, “He like even went out of his way to use the grass.” A good number of people sided with OP, who claimed it was more than just the deliveryman taking a simple shortcut. “Some consider it disrespectful to walk on someone’s lawn,” H2O remarked.

OP continued, adding that some don’t understand how hard it can be to keep a lawn looking pristine. “Manners have fallen to the wayside over the years,” they sighed. “I was taught manners…you don’t walk through people’s lawns unless you are allowed or supposed to be there,” shared a commenter. “It’s plain lazy and very inconsiderate!” exclaimed another in agreement.

Many Redditors Accused the Homeowner of Overreacting Over Their Grass Being Walk On

On the other side of the coin, many Redditors opposed H2O’s frustration. Some people claimed OP’s property had a “design flaw” in how the walkway favored people parked on the driveway, not the street. Others added that Amazon drivers are often trying to be as efficient as possible with their countless deliveries, so cutting through someone’s lawn saves them time and energy. “Each step saved is helpful,” as a commenter put it.

That said, the vast majority of critics of OP felt this post was no more than an entitled overreaction. “Walking on the lawn is whatever. I understand that people are very particular about lawns but just walking across it isn’t hurting it,” remarked a Redditor. “Grass is made to be walked on,” chimed in another. “Nothing he stepped on would be damaged by walking on it. It’s grass, not a sack of puppies,” wrote a third.

This wasn’t the first time this Nebraska homeowner had issue with how Amazon drivers were delivering packages. In a separate post on r/lincoln a few weeks earlier, they complained about a woman who chose to toss the packages instead of taking another step. Either H2O has bad luck with their drivers, but how big a deal they believe the issues to be might be debatable, according to other Redditors.
