A photo of a Marine Corps billboard ad in North Carolina has gone viral on r/pics, but probably not for the reasons military supporters would like. Reaching almost 100k upvotes, the picture of the billboard shows how it was vandalized, with graffiti accusing American soldiers of killing for oil or dying under someone accused of indecent acts with minors. CressNo7072, the poster, expressed how he felt the ad was a joke, and hundreds in the comments felt so too.

The photo of the Marines billboard was taken by CressNo7072, who didn’t share anything else beyond the post and a few random comments. On the flip side, an overwhelming number of people shared their strong feelings about how the military is being improperly used by the current administration, particularly in the war against Iran.

“My buddy in the Marines told me that everyone in boot camp was calling it the Epstein war. Much to the chagrin of the brass,” claimed a commenter. This claim could hold some merit based on DW’s report saying that more and more service members are against the assault against Iran. This report isn’t hard to believe, given that high-ranking US Army officials like General Randy George are allegedly being forced to “retire” after speaking out against Trump’s orders.

Many Redditors were also distraught to see how things had become, with growing negative sentiment toward their own military. “This administration makes me sad. Both my mom and dad were Marines,” mourned a user. “What a nightmare this country has become,” sighed another. “The Iraq war was just as bad as this war is,” lamented a third.

One user commented on how the military hasn’t been eating lately, with photos of Navy soldiers being fed quite meager-looking rations going viral. However, the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations has publicly claimed that any allegations of food shortages and poor meal quality are false.

Just from this viral photo of a Marines billboard ad, many have expressed how much they deplore the Iran war by sharing their frustration through mockery, vandalism, and criticism against the Trump administration. On the other hand, a good majority also feels saddened by how, in their eyes, the US has reached a new low over this overseas conflict.
