A mother in Connecticut raised alarm online after a photo of the inside of her trash-filled car was shared on r/carbage. Her ex, who goes by Outrageous_Big_6345 on Reddit, uploaded the picture, saying that “I had no idea it was this bad until just now.” Riding with a heap of trash at one’s feet is already an issue for both the mental and physical, but hundreds of Redditors were also concerned about what they noticed in the trash.

“Is that a bag of wine bottle caps or olive oil?” asked a commenter. “I have to be honest, this looks like an alcoholic’s car,” remarked another. “Looks like she may be smoking in the car, some of those cans are stuffed with butts. Do your kids ever smell like cigarettes/weed?” questioned a third. Unfortunately, the answers from Outrageous_Big_6345 weren’t what the concerned Redditors were hoping for.

OP responded to multiple comments, saying how he didn’t ask about what was in the trash, nor did he show much concern about the mess. Since it is his ex-partner’s vehicle after all, he felt it wasn’t his responsibility to keep it clean. Yet people still felt he should be held accountable because children were riding in the car.

The Connecticut Man Responded Coldly to Concerns Over His Ex’s Car and Her Children

“No offense man but keep your kids out of that filth,” remarked a Redditor, to which Outrageous_Big_6345 replied, saying, “They are old enough to not need help getting in and out of the car. And why would I inspect her stuff its not my responsibility its hers.” He added, “They 100% clean up after themselves when they are with me. But I can’t control what happens when they aren’t.”

Based on what Reddit users spotted in the garbage, the Connecticut mother was allegedly drinking and smoking in the car; some assumed she could have driven under the influence as well. Others added that she could also be depressed and needs therapy.

As to whether OP will clean his ex’s car himself or have her tidy things up, both outcomes seem unlikely given his responses to Redditors’ concerns.
