“Is 7 Days To Die cross platform?” is one question that zombie survival games fans have been asking for quite some time. 7 Days To Die is a popular zombie game created by developer The Fun Pimp. The title has been in development since 2013 as a Steam Early Access game on PC. Three years later, the PS4 and Xbox One versions were released, and on July 25, 2024, the game made its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X. Now, once again, players are asking whether 7 Days To Die supports cross platform play between PS4, Xbox, and PC or not.
Can You Play 7 Days To Die Cross Platform? Answered
[August 28 Update – Fact-checked information and updated some details]
Currently, 7 Days To Die does feature “partial” cross platform play, but it’s quite confusing. Specifically, players on Steam and the Windows Store can play together. Additionally, PC players playing through the Windows Store or PC Game Pass will be able to play with Xbox players, too. This is because both versions of the software use the same Universal Windows Platform (UWP) system. This lets any application running on Microsoft’s platform interact with each other. Another example of a UWP-enabled game is Ark: Survival Evolved. There, Xbox and Windows Store players can also play with each other.
Unfortunately, however, the legacy version, which was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, does not have crossplay support with the game on PC. That said, PS4 and Xbox One players can play with other players on their specific platform; only between console platforms. This means, only Xbox and PlayStation players can join each other’s game.
As for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players, crossplay is not available at launch but it is coming in the future. The Fun Pimps has confirmed that it aims to add crossplay support via a future update; it’s tentatively penciled in for Q4 2024, though that release window is subject to change depending on how development shakes out.
7 Days to Die is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and MAC.
