Is the Friendly Competition perk good or not worth mentioning in Dead by Daylight? The Friendly Competition perk belongs to the newest Survivor, Thalita Lyra. However, is Friendly Competition really a good perk, or is it unnecessary? We’ll break down the Friendly Competition perk and see if it’s worth a shot in Dead by Daylight!
How Does the Friendly Competition Perk Work in DbD?
To understand whether Friendly Competition is good or not, we must first know how it does work in DbD. Thalita Lyra’s perk Friendly Competition becomes active after you complete a generator, at least with another Survivor. When this perk activates, you and the other Survivor(s) who have repaired with you gain +5% repair speed for the next 45/60/75 seconds. To use this perk, the generator must be completed, and the given repair speed time starts when the generator is completed.
Is Friendly Competition a Good DbD Perk?
If you’ve been playing Dead by Daylight for a long time, you know that Friendly Competition and similar perks aren’t a fan favorite. Fulfilling a condition to activate the perk may not always be successful. However, there are some cases where every DbD perk comes in handy. Friendly Competition has its pros and cons in DbD. Then let’s analyze this perk together!
Upsides:
There are some upsides that Friendly Competition comes in handy.
- Friendly Competition is very good for gen rushing. If you want to finish the generators quickly and escape altogether, Friendly Competition can be advantageous for you and your team.
- If you are playing at a party, you can invite your friends to repair the same generator with you. That way, the Friendly Competition perk will favor different.
- At the beginning of the game, you can quickly finish a generator and scatter to different parts of the map, and a different person can sit on each generator. But you have to be quick because you will have a minute or so.
Downsides:
Unfortunately, the downsides of the Friendly Competition perk are more glaring.
- This perk is very conditional and requires coordination. To get value, you need to have at least someone to complete a whole gen with you. There may not always be someone to help you complete the generator, or they may have to leave before completing the generator to save someone.
- The 5% boost provided by the Friendly Competition isn’t very encouraging. Also, being able to use it for only 75 seconds is very useless because it will take time to find the other generator. Completing a side-by-side generator is not a recommended gameplay style in Dead by Daylight, anyway.
- Friendly Competition takes up your perk slots for nothing. Instead of this perk, Prove Thyself is better, which will be more useful and give you a boost of up to +45%. Or even taking a toolbox with you will have the same effect.
Overall, we don’t think Friendly Competition is a good Dead by Daylight perk. Moreover, if we look at the number of players who prefer this perk, there are many who think like us.
