A teen and their younger sibling were out fishing in Florida when they were confronted by an angry Karen. While the older sibling took pictures of his brother with a fish, she decided to intervene, calling it “illegal.” The siblings continued doing their thing, trying their best to ignore the way she inserted herself into their fun.
Luke (@386luke) and his younger brother were fishing in Florida when they caught a big one. A woman wandered over and told them that they weren’t supposed to be fishing and yelled at them. While Luke’s younger brother was holding onto the fish, Luke said, “We’re just going to get a picture first.” You can hear the angry woman in the background shouting, “You don’t need a picture!”
Luke ignores the woman and tells his brother to pose for the picture. His younger brother squats down on one leg and holds out the enormous fish in his hands. While Luke is zooming in to take the picture, the woman says in a serious manner, “It is illegal to touch the wildlife.” Luke states back at her, “Not really. We’re just fishing.”
When Luke is finished taking the picture, he tells his brother, “Okay, you can release him.” His little brother puts the fish back in the water. But the woman stands behind them and says, “What if somebody snatched you and held you like that?” Luke repeatedly states, “Sorry we’re just trying to catch fish, ma’am.” They try to tell her that they’re just trying to have fun and she angrily storms away from them.
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, with many standing up for Luke. Commenters questioned why the woman had to insert herself in their moment and say anything in the first place. One commenter pointed out that this is why people say, “Why don’t kids ever go outside anymore?” Another commenter added, “Retired police SGT here. You handled that perfectly. Next time call the police so she can get her lesson.”
Others commented on the untrue statements that the woman made when she approached. As one stated, “It’s NOT illegal to fish. Thank you for releasing it safely, too.” Another pointed out, “It is illegal to harass someone who is fishing, though.” Commenters continue to share their statements and opinions on Luke’s video in regards to the confrontation.
