One of the biggest indie hits of the previous generation, Journey, will be making its way to the PS4 on July 21. And what’s even better is that for anyone who originally bought the game on PS3 (and there are quite a lot of them), it will be a Free download.

Journey was one of the highlights of the PSN catalogue when it was first released back in 2012. Originally developed by Thatgamecompany, Journey had players controlling a mysterious robed figure as they made their way across a vast desert to reach a foreboding mountain in the distance. The game received massive amounts of praise for its atmosphere, visuals, sound design and the way it created an emotional connection with the player. Journey went on to win numerous game of the year awards as well as several nominations in other media.

There isn’t much word on what, if any, new content there will be. But judging from the trailer it looks like the game will run at 1080p at 60 FPS. Player’s who already digitally bought the original Journey on PS3 will be able to download the PS4 version for free, which is sure to ingratiate fans both old and new.

In addition to the announcement, Santa Monica Studios are also asking fans to share their experiences with Journey. They’re asking anyone who played the original to share their thoughts and feelings on Journey via video testimonial, and to tag it with the hashtag #OurJourney. Then a number of these will be featured on journey.playstation.com (although the site doesn’t seem to be live yet).

Although players who own the original PS3 copy will get the PS4 version for free, there has been no word yet on how much the game will cost for new players. Journey for PS4 will be released exclusively on the PSN on July 21.
