If there’s one thing that Kevin Hart and Borderlands have in common, it’s that they’re both awesome. Put them together and it could be a match made in heaven. Soon, we will find out just how good a match it could be as Kevin Hart has been cast to play Roland in the upcoming Borderlands movie.
Traditionally, movies based on video games have been terrible, but they are making something of a comeback with a number of movies on the way, including a Tom Holland fronted Uncharted movie. The casting of Kevin Hart in the Borderlands movie is another piece of a puzzle that could break the mold of despair as he joins the already cast Cate Blanchett and director Eli Roth. With the casting announced today, Eli Roth had this to say:
I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin. Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”
The Borderlands movie seems to be coming together up quite nicely with this latest addition. There’s great and hilarious source material to adapt, and we could be on to a winner. It’s not known yet when filming will begin, or when the movie will be released. It’s understandable in the current climate but does mean we have something to look forward to on the horizon.
There are still a few roles to fill, and it’s exciting to dream about who will play our favorite characters. Hopefully, more will get announced soon, but in the meantime, I’d like to nominate Danny DeVito to play Claptrap. Announce that and I’ll pre-order my ticket now.
Let us know if you’re excited about it, as well as what your favorite ever video game movie is. We’ll bring you more when we can.
