The holiday season is upon us once again! However, nobody told the Zeds in Killing Floor 2 that people are on vacation, and they continue to pop up in various locations. Tripwire Interactive’s award-winning game receives the Yuletide Horror update. PS4, Xbox One, and Steam players can download this new content and jump back into the battle.
Killing Floor 2: New Places and New Faces
First, it wouldn’t be a holiday if the Zeds weren’t dressed for the occasion. All enemies are sporting the appropriate attire, from elf suits to gingerbread man costumes and Nutcracker armor. Furthermore, there are two new maps available. One map, the Sanatarium, is a community map available on most game modes. Battle through hordes of Zeds at this manor that sports a cave system and ceremonial objects. The second level is an Objective Map, where players visit the Biotics Lab and try to prevent the Patriarch from creating a new Zed army.
Speaking of bosses, a new face enters the fray in Killing Floor 2: The Matriarch! When battling her, players will have to bring down her shields before dealing permanent damage while avoiding her devastating electrical blasts. The new boss has minions in the form of androids that attack the heroes with melee and ranged moves. Here’s a tip: unlike the Patriarch, his female counterpart does not run away when her health gets low. If you can trap her and avoid her attacks, this new boss will go down quickly!
Additions to Your Arsenal
Next, four new weapons have been added to the game. The Field Medic’s HRG Incision is a new railgun that can mow down enemies with shock ammo or heal allies with darts. Furthermore, hitting a Zed with a dart from this weapon deals more damage than others! If you’re not much of a healer, then try out the Gunslinger’s new Winterbites. These dual handguns fire freezing blasts that can stop enemies in their tracks when hit enough!
The next two weapons in Killing Floor 2 are paid DLC items that can be shared with other players in the same battle via the weapon sharing system. Use the Sharpshooter’s Mosin Nagant to pick off Zeds from afar. If enemies get too close, use the gun to block and parry their attacks. Finally, SWAT receives a Riot Shield/Glock 18 combo. Aim down your sights to bring up your shield. This decreases frontal damage by a great deal and lets you bash some heads in. When you have the chance, unload on Zeds with your gun in either single-shot or automatic mode.
