Haven’t got enough Kingdom Hearts in your life? Want to catch up on the series before KHIII? Well, don’t worry. Square-Enix has got you covered.
Recently, the JRPG giant announced Kingdom Hearts – The Story So Far for the PlayStation 4. The nine-game compilation is scheduled to release on October 30 for $39.99 USD.
The compilation is available for preorder on Square-Enix’s website right now. It appears to collect all the HD remasters previously released for the console alongside some other extras.

And if you’re a newcomer to the franchise, then yes, your eyes don’t deceive you. There are currently twelve games in the franchise – Kingdom Hearts III will be the thirteenth. The series is notorious for its multiple side-games and spin-offs, most of which are essential to understanding the overarching plot and lore.
And to boot, the plot itself is notoriously complex. The cast of characters is huge and perhaps even rivals Game of Thrones in that regard. While Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald are featured, most of the main plot revolves around Square-Enix’s original characters Sora, Riku, and Organization XIII.
As of November 2017, the Kingdom Hearts games have shipped more than 24 million copies worldwide. It continues to enjoy a loyal fan base and many of its games – the first and second of the ‘main’ installments in particular – are regarded as great action RPGs.
Kingdom Hearts III is due for release January 25, 2019, in Japan and January 29, 2019, elsewhere.
