There was so much hype surrounding the release of Joker: Folie à Deux (the sequel to the hit 2019 film Joker) that you would be forgiven for thinking it would be a huge cinematic success. However, the film has not been met with praise from fans and has a disappointing score on Rotten Tomatoes: 33 percent from critics and 31 percent from the audience.
The film stars Lady Gaga as Harleen Lee Quinzel, and actor Joaquin Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker (a role he has previously been praised for). The poor reception has disappointed fans and the stellar cast, and a new report claims Gaga is confused by the reactions.
“Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,” a source told Daily Mail. “She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.”
Gaga has been busy. In addition to her work on the film, she also released a surprise musical project (ahead of her seventh studio album) titled Harlequin, so fans have been in for a treat. Despite the film’s failings, she intends to keep working hard in the future because the source claims her team is already on the lookout for other projects, “as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.”

“She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,” the Daily Mail source alleges. “She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar. She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition.”
If Gaga could land another film role in a big-budget movie, this would be a great step in her career (especially if it is Tarantino’s last movie). She has already proven herself to be a successful actress, having performed in A Star is Born and House of Gucci, so we are excited to see what the future holds for the entertainer.
