Since January of last year, Fortnite‘s Icons Series has featured crossover skins of real-life celebrities who’ve involved themselves heavily in the Fortnite scene. Players can play as world-famous DJ Marshmello, American rapper Travis Scott, and even the god of Fortnite himself, Ninja. Possibly next in line is NBA superstar and worldwide internet sensation LeBron James. Content creator Shiina was the first to claim this upcoming LeBron James Fortnite Skin, and Hypex confirmed the leak while adding further info. 

In addition to the new LeBron James Fortnite Skin, players can earn rewards by completing “King’s Bling quests.” For those who aren’t familiar, “King’s Bling” is LeBron’s nickname basketball fans know him by (“King James” is his Twitter handle). Fulfilling these quests requirements will reward players with items that become “more gold.” After finishing all of the quests, players will be given access to a slider that allows customization on the items’ level of “goldness.”

Epic has already established a solid business relationship with NBA. Back in May, Fortnite hosted the Fortnite x NBA: The Crossover event that included uniforms from all 30 basketball teams, plus a new emote and back bling. With LeBron James starring in the new thrilling Space Jam: A New Legacy coming to theaters later this month, it is no surprise that Epic Games would take advantage of this promotional crossover by featuring the renowned basketball celerity in Fortnite.

Fortnite has been on an insane roll lately, bringing in all sorts of popular guest characters into its world. We’ve seen Lara Croft, Master Chief, Terminator, and even John Wick. It is wild to think that one game could draw the attention of other incredibly distinguished franchises. And with the LeBron James Fortnite Skin now potentially arriving in the battle royale, it is exciting to imagine what real-life or fictional character could be coming next to Fortnite’s universe.
