How Did Lionel Richie React To His Coronation Performance Critics?
After facing backlash from fans over his coronation concert performance, the 73-year-old Endless Love singer emphasized that he is proud of his performance. In an Instagram Story, Richie shared a video of his performance and photos from the historic night. The singer captioned the post as “All night long at Windsor Castle England,” while referring to one of his famous songs.
King Charles’ coronation concert was attended by 20,000 individuals, including the Royal family and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. However, some fans who watched the show accused the music legend of “butchering” his songs at the concert. The fans further wondered what happened to the singer’s voice.
Viewers of the concert seemed baffled by the singer at the concert. Richie performed his classic song, Easy, and his 1983 hit song, All Night Long. Fans on social media condemned the performance, as some said they wished they had not tuned in for the performance.
Did Fans Continue To Criticize Richie’s Performance?
Per DailyMail, disappointed fans continued to mock the icon’s performance. A fan compared the Ballerina Girl singer’s voice to that of Kermit the Frog. Some fans who watched Richie’s performance directly said that the singer’s performance was not very good.
Some fans of the singer said that they would not bother to see him sing live in the future and were glad they had not bought his concert tickets. On the other hand, another fan decided to cancel his ticket to see the songwriter’s concert after his performance at the coronation concert. However, some viewers were considerate as they stated that the Lady singer does not sound the same way he did 40 years ago.
Furthermore, some fans praised the R&B star for singing live instead of miming the song. Some fans were happy that the singer at his age was still performing in person. However, the Royal family was spotted as they danced to Richie’s performance and enjoyed themselves.
