Some of the production crew for the new Lord of the Rings series, which will be available on Amazon Prime, has been announced. This “Fellowship” was revealed in a Twitter video and includes Academy Award winners, someone who worked on the Peter Jackson trilogy, and big names from the likes of Game of Thrones and The Avengers.

The showrunners will be J.D. Fayne and Patrick McKay. An all-star team of writers has been assembled to include consulting writer Glenise Mullins, Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad), Helen Shang (Hannibal), Jason Cahill (The Sopranos/Fringe), Justin Doble (Stranger Things/Fringe), Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4), and Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones).

Via Deadline, the director of the first two episodes will be J.A. Bayona. He and executive producer Belén Atienza worked together on The Impossible, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Orphanage, and A Monster Calls. Other executive producers are Bruce Richmond (Game of Thrones, Westworld), Gene Kelly (Boardwalk Empire, Westworld), and Lindsey Weber (Star Trek Beyond, 10 Cloverfield Lane). Ron Ames of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Trek: Into Darkness is the co-producer.

Academy Award Winner Rick Heinrichs (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) is the production designer. He is joined by another Academy Award Winner, Jason Smith (Avengers, The Revenant) who is the visual effects supervisor.

Tolkien Scholar Tom Shippey is also on the team, an integral role in unraveling the detailed and historic world of Middle-Earth. Costume designer Kate Hawley of Suicide Squad and Edge of Tomorrow has been hired, as well.

One of the most exciting announcements is John Howe as an illustrator and concept artist. Howe worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy beside Peter Jackson, making the world of Middle-Earth a reality.

This is one of the biggest announcements to happen so far on this new Lord of the Rings series. It is known each episode has a multi-million budget and that it will take place during the Second Age. Which is after the destruction of Beleriand and contains the founding of Lindon and Númenor. Sauron is a key figure during this time as well as Celebrimbor. This may fulfill fans dreams of seeing the events of the Simarillion played out.
