One of the best things about Soulslikes is the ability to tackle the game with whatever kind of build you want. The genre is known for its difficulty, and how you deal with mobs and bosses makes a big difference. Some prefer to focus on lighter, more mobile Agility builds. Others enjoy spellcasting. For many players, there’s nothing more satisfying than a Strength build. Wielding some of the heaviest and most powerful weapons in the game makes you a force to be reckoned with throughout Mournstead. The reduced speed of these weapons makes them a challenge to learn, but mastery has its rewards. Here are the best Strength weapons in Lords of the Fallen.

5. Ancestor’s Sword

Belonging to the Grand Sword category, Ancestor’s Sword is one of the heaviest weapons in Lords of the Fallen but also one of the best. It requires a daunting 25 Strength to use, so you won’t be equipping it at the beginning of the game. It has D Strength scaling before upgrades and scales with nothing else, so it’s the perfect fit if you haven’t invested in any other Attributes. Base Physical Damage of 164 is nice, and it only gets better once you bring it to the blacksmith for some love and attention. With a staggering Weight of 39.2, Ancestor’s Sword ranks amongst the game’s heaviest weapons. That’s a downside, but it may be worth it, depending on your build.

4. Thorned Crimson Rector Sword

The Thorned Crimson Rector Sword has several advantages beyond just looking cool. It requires 19 Strength, which isn’t much compared to some of the more demanding Strength weapons. Its base Physical Damage compares favorably to other weapons in the category, and it’s a Long Sword, not a Grand weapon, so you’re a bit faster and more mobile when using it. The Thorned Crimson Rector Sword also causes Bleed buildup, which is useful whether or not you’re pursuing a full Bleed build. Best of all, this weapon can be found early on, giving you an excellent option at the beginning of the game.

3. Anvil Hammer

The Anvil Hammer is a Quality weapon, meaning it scales with both Strength and Agility. It requires 18 Strength and just 8 Agility, however, which shows you which way this Grand Hammer leans. Though it doesn’t scale well compared to other weapons of its kind, the Anvil Hammer has incredible base damage that lets it keep pace with (and even outperform) similar upgraded weapons. It’s accessible early in the game, assuming you buy the Pilgrim’s Perch Key, and with upgrades, it can have a happy home in your build for the rest of the game. Some of the best weapons in Lords of the Fallen are unassuming, and the Anvil Hammer is a great example. Take this rusted paperweight to your enemies, and you won’t regret it.

2. Angel’s Axe

Angel’s Axe is an exceptional Strength weapon in most areas. It requires 22 Strength to use and has unimpressive Block Protection across all categories, but there’s a lot to like about this Grand Axe. With a Weight of 24.5, it isn’t exactly light, but it’s not the heaviest Grand weapon by any means. Solid Physical and decent scaling make this a useful all-around choice. You might want to consider Angel’s Axe if you’re putting together a Strength-based dual-wielding build for your next run through Lords of the Fallen. Paired with another weapon, the unique benefits of Angel’s Axe truly shine. Just be mindful of your Encumberance if you choose to do so.

1. Iron Wayfarer’s Hammer

The Iron Wayfarer is the first NPC you meet in Mournstead. He’s also a useful ally in your battle against Pieta. It’s fitting that one of the best Strength weapons in Lords of the Fallen would belong to him. Iron Wayfarer’s Hammer is a massive weapon by any measure. With a Weight of 35.2 and an unbelievable Strength requirement of 31, you’ll need to be in peak physical condition to even wield this Grand Hammer. The advantages are obvious. Combining multiple damage types with top-tier Strength scaling makes this one of the most deadly weapons in the game if you can handle its weight and slow swings.

Lords of the Fallen is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
