In true Souls-like fashion, Lords of the Fallen is a game that throws players in a dangerous place with little to no help. One of the biggest challenges in any game of this genre is figuring out where to go. While some sections of Hexworks’ latest title are linear, others require you to do a bit of research and clue-solving. For that, Lords of the Fallen gives players several map fragments to guide them through the game’s areas. If you’re unsure how they work, here’s a guide to show you how to use them.
How To Use Map Fragments in Lords of the Fallen
While the game does a fantastic job of explaining some systems, there are others that, even if they are easy to use, can’t be missed by many. But don’t fret because we’ll show you how to use Map Fragments here. Before we begin, remember that most of these fragments are out in the world, so you need to do a bit of exploring alone or with others. Thankfully, most are easy to spot, meaning you won’t miss many.
Using the Journal
Once you pick up a Map Fragment, it’ll get added to your inventory under the Quest/Upgrade Materials menu. If you select it, it won’t give you any option to use it or read it; that’s because the map is added automatically to your Journal tab. Once there, though, how do you use it or read it? Well, we’ve got you covered. For this example, we’ll use the Map Fragment of Pilgrim’s Perch Ascent.

Is Lords of the Fallen On Game Pass? Answered
The maps you collect will show as the above image, without the red numbers, of course. However, we’ve put numbers there to explain some of the elements you might be able to find in other Map Fragments.
- An entrance that leads you to a new zone that is required to progress through the game.
- Same as above.
- Tips on how to traverse certain areas.
- The path you must follow to reach the end of the area.
The first two panels are easy as they show the entrances you must watch out for. These places usually lead to a new area or help you progress through the place you’re in at the moment.
Some panels, like the third one in this example, show clues on traversing parts of a specific zone. Finally, the fourth panel shows the path you must follow to traverse to a new place. It’s important to remember most Map Fragments will be different, but the gist is the same. You’ll get some clues, see a recommended path, and key elements to guide you while exploring Axiom.
