You probably know Mad Catz, the prolific manufacturer of all video game accessories you either love or hate. I feel like all kids growing up in the 1990s or 2000s had at least one Mad Catz product. It was the thing your parents got you when you asked for a new PlayStation controller. Because when they went to the store and saw a $30 price difference between the official Sony controller and the Mad Catz, there was no chance you weren’t getting the cheaper option.
That said, Mad Catz has come a long way in the last 30 years. And their peripherals aren’t the janky budget solutions they used to be. A lot of their products, especially their mice and keyboards, are pretty good stuff now. So it’s going to be worth paying attention to their big reveal at CES 2020 next month when they show off all their new product lines.
There’s also the F.R.E.Q. 4 gaming headset, which features 50mm audio drivers and 7.1 surround sound. The S.T.R.I.K.E. 13 mechanical gaming keyboard. The C.A.T. 7 and the C.A.T. 3 gamepads. And of course the E.G.O. Arcade FightStick. This arcade stick will feature Sanwa Denshi components, an eight-directional joystick, eight-button arcade layout, and customizable faceplate. Mad Catz threw in everything you could ask for.
