People the world over are itching to get more competition in their lives in the wake of coronavirus shutdowns. EA Sports plans for the Madden NFL 21 Championship Series to have more entertaining competition than ever before.

The tournament has been revamped from previous years, offering weekly entertainment programming, with involvement from celebrities, athletes, and elite Madden NFL players. The Madden NFL 21 Championship Series hopes to be entertaining for both players and football fans. Every Tuesday throughout the year will feature a new broadcast for players to enjoy, starting Sept. 15.

The prize pool this year is larger than ever before, at $1.4 million. Any Madden NFL 21 player can have a chance to get in on the competition thanks to the Madden NFL 21 Club Championship, running from Nov. 10 to Feb. 5. During this tournament, players will fight to represent one of the 32 NFL teams. The registration for the Club Championship will be open for players of all ages and skill levels until Sept. 28.

The first Madden NFL 21 Championship Series broadcast on Sept. 15 will kick off Derwin James vs. The World. James, a safety for the LA Chargers, is one of the best Madden NFL players in the NFL. For 16 weeks Derwin will face a gauntlet of challengers, from musical guests to celebrities and athletes. The streams can be seen on the Madden NFL Twitch page and the Madden Competitive Gaming Youtube page. Derwin James had the following to say:

Fans got a taste of my skills when I won the Madden NFL 20 Celebrity Tournament back in April, and this time, I’m back to quiet any doubters that I’m the best Madden player in the League. I’m a huge Madden fan and I look forward to showing up every Tuesday to take on new challengers and ultimately test my skills against the season’s best Madden player.”

Tuesdays will also feature King of the Hill in the Madden NFL 21 Championship Series broadcast lineup. In these single elimination tournaments, two NFL players will find themselves one-on-one with two elite Madden NFL players, with the winner from each matchup advancing tho the following week.

Madden NFL 21 releases this Friday and comes with a new backyard football-inspired mode.
