A Maine woman already having a terrible run of luck found herself locked outside her apartment on a hot day after her sister’s boyfriend accidentally locked the door behind him. Her sister was asleep, and since she lives in an apartment, it wasn’t as easy as knocking on the front door to get someone’s attention. Then, there was an ice cream truck.
Depending on what one’s parents warned them about, an ice cream truck is usually a good thing, a relief on a hot summer day. Unfortunately for Evening Internal, she wouldn’t be getting any ice cream to cool herself while locked outside, as, according to her, “MY WALLET IS STUCK INSIDE.”
When Redditors naturally asked why she didn’t use Apple Pay, things somehow got worse. “I have Apple Pay. I, however, do not have money in my bank account,” she explained. Asked why, OP offered a brutally straightforward summary: “I’m in school, I’m in a custody battle, I’m broke.” She said she had about $200 in cash, but naturally, that was inside the apartment too.

Being locked outside without enough money to buy ice cream apparently wasn’t even the worst thing happening in her life. OP told commenters, “My luck has been disgustingly bad lately,” before sharing another recent problem: a leak directly above her bed.
According to the woman, her landlord told her the water was likely coming from the upstairs apartment’s toilet pipe. She shared a photo showing the apparent ceiling damage, giving Reddit yet another reason to wonder what she had done to deserve this particular streak of bad luck.
Getting locked outside on a hot day was bad enough. Watching an ice cream truck arrive while her wallet and cash sat uselessly inside made it worse.
