A musician playing in Maryland shared a video of him being heckled by a local restaurant owner. He claimed the owner not only bothered him and those on stage by making a scene, but the rest of the stage crew and patrons.

Justin Taylor, the musician who was heckled, posted the confrontation on his TikTok account (Justintaylormd). In the video, Justin is heard arguing with the restaurant owner.

@justintaylormd

After about 5 minutes of this “business owner” in Annapolis berating the stage crew, sound engineer, and even PATRONS, saying “yall don’t have to come support my restaurant if you don’t want too it won’t hurt my pockets at all” and complaining our stage was “too close” to the crowd, we were “trespassing” and the crowd who were all very much enjoying themselves, on top of cursing out a Nashville publisher and basically everyone who was there MC – ing and sponsoring this particular stage. I had enough… if you ever handle yourself the way this man did, I will call you out on it. Short message, don’t be a dick, you never know who your talking too and who you’ll piss in this industry. Hope this is a lesson for you Carl. Whoever, I WILL be back next year for the songwriters festival, and I thank the team and ALL personnel and management for having me and supporting us in this situation. I love yall ! 💕 #confrontation #marylandmusic #farmboyemo #annapolissongwritersfestival #nashville

According to Justin, shortly after the stage was set up and he started performing, an Annapolis business owner came out “berating” him and the crowd. The man started “complaining” that Justin’s stage was too close to the crowd and that he and his crew were “trespassing.”

In the video, Justin makes it clear to the heckler that they were paid to be there, and the restaurant owner snipes that he and the community foot the bill. This got some commotion from the crowd, with one person shouting, “He does not speak for Annapolis.”

As the heckler continues, Justin tells him he’s a jerk in no uncertain terms. The crowd can be heard booing the man. The owner says, “I know! Someone has to be!” They ignore him and start playing anyway. Justin gives the man a final middle finger at the end.

Members of Annapolis call out the restaurant owner online

The video drew plenty of ire online, with some people saying they lived in Annapolis and even knew the business owner. Others made fun of him or shared their personal experience eating at his restaurant.

“Is that the Iron Rooster owner?” a viewer asked. Several commenters confirmed, with one saying they “used to love” the restaurant. “Unfortunately,” they added, ”I won’t be back now.” A local musician chimed in too, stating, “I’ll be sharing this and personally will never go there again.”

One viewer claimed to have worked at the Iron Rooster before and gave a scathing review of the owner himself. They called him “entitled,” claimed “every business owner” on that block “hates him,” and that he treats the area “like his own Mar-a-Lago.”

Justin’s TikTok video shows how principled people can be when they suspect a business owner is rude, especially if they’re willing to act like it in public. With Maryland being a popular locale for tourism and vacations, this can lead potential customers to avoid the eatery altogether. The cities and towns ultimately lose out!
