What was intended to be a meaningful Memorial Day shared between a father and a daughter was, however, ruined when a Massachusetts man threw rocks at them while yelling racial slurs. The father, identified as Sheron Brown, and his 10-year-old daughter were enjoying a fishing trip on Shady Point Beach, Lunenburg, when a violent stranger confronted them. Video evidence capturing the incident showed the assailant shirtless on the dock yelling at the father and daughter, “Oh yeah, I’m throwing rocks at you N**.”
The concerned father recounted the incident to NBC 10 Boston, saying that the man was aggressive towards them, claiming they were too close to his property. “His first words were, ‘Don’t fish here next to my dock, go somewhere else. Why are you here?” Brown recalled.
“It seemed like he was trying to establish some kind of invisible boundary where I can’t fish towards his dock, even though that wasn’t my intention anyway. There was at least 65 feet between us, which is a considerable distance.”
The man continued to attack them verbally with swear words. But when he made the racial comments and started throwing rocks, the protective father was forced to call 911. The attacker, identified as David McPartlan, told the authorities that he racially abused them out of anger. “I slipped a word out that maybe I shouldn’t have but I was pissed,” McPartlan confessed. However, when asked what the word was, he refused to admit it.
Regarding the disturbing incident, Brown said it was unlike anything he had experienced in his 15 years of fishing in the location. He further expressed his pain that his little girl witnessed it, saying, “Never in 1000 years would you expect to be out doing what you love with the person you love, my daughter, and someone aggressive and yelling out things that are just awful and atrocious.”
The disturbing situation has since sparked outrage among social media users who criticized the racist man.
One media user wrote, “If anyone should be deported, it’s this c**t.” A second critic wondered why racists make such comments. “For some reason, racists seem to think they are safe to spew their vile beliefs now.” Another observer replied, “The last person who made the news for shouting racial slurs made a fortune in donations from right-wingers. There’s an incentive.”
“Racists suck, especially the idiotically violent ones,” read another critical comment.
McPartlan was charged with two counts each of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault to intimidate. His trial is scheduled for June 16 in Fitchburg District Court.
