A woman in Massachusetts went to visit her disabled brother at a facility after he called her, saying that they weren’t feeding him. Upon arrival, the woman confronted the male head nurse about it; he initially said that her brother had eaten, but then gave contradictory answers. In the end, the man apparently lost his job.
The interaction was shared online by TikTok user Tiff.Talk (Tiff). She is a popular content creator who often shares viral trends and lifestyle content alongside her family. The clip attached above stood out given its nature, garnering 919,400 views, 46,600 likes, and more than 4,100 comments.
The Massachusetts woman provided a backstory to the footage she uploaded. According to her, her brother, Derek, a disabled and handicapped man, had called her from the facility he is currently staying at. He had told Tiff that the nursing staff wasn’t feeding him, which led to her checking on him immediately after.
Tiff directly asked the head charge nurse whether Derek had eaten or not. The man answered, “Yes. Ask him. Let me not talk on his behalf.” The woman asked him multiple times if Derek had eaten, and multiple times she was told that he had.
However, once Tiff joined Derek in his room, she was told otherwise. Derek, sitting on his chair, told her, “No. No. I didn’t.” She believed her brother.
Tiff returned to the head charge nurse and asked him what they fed Derek. The man, backtracking his previous statement, said that Derek told him he didn’t want to eat, and he ended up designating other nurses for the feeding.
“Go ask the staff,” the man told Tiff.
Argument Escalates
Confused, the Massachusetts woman asked the man why he told her Derek had eaten and then changed his answer, accusing him of lying. Instead of addressing the question, the man said he didn’t consent to being recorded and asked the woman to give her a consent sheet to sign.
“It doesn’t matter if you consent or not,” Tiff said. “I’m recording you, and I’m letting you know that you’re being recorded. […] I’m just asking you why now all of a sudden you don’t wanna be recorded? Why all of a sudden? ‘Cause I caught you in a lie?“
Tiff’s phone was grabbed by another nurse coming to the head charge nurse’s defense, telling her not to record her. Meanwhile, the head charge nurse told her he didn’t have the right to ask for the other nurse’s name.
Following the incident, Tiff revealed that the head charge nurse was fired from his job at the facility.
