The EMMI robots are what inject that titular sense of dread in the newly released Metroid Dread. They are quick, dangerous, and are programmed to kill Samus Aran. What they are not is invincible. The first EMMI you come across acts as a tutorial, and doesn’t put up much of a fight. It is the second one, the white EMMI-02SM that you will need to worry about. This guide will show you how to defeat the second EMMI in Metroid Dread.

How to Defeat the Second EMMI

Just like you did for the first EMMI, you will need to find the Omega Cannon to destroy the mechanic pursuer. Where the first Cannon was provided for free, you will need to find and defeat the Central Unit that in Artaria to gain access to the weapon. Once you find the Central Unit, you will have a boss fight. It is a pretty simple fight with some environmental hazards, though you will need the Charge Beam to really do some damage to it. Upon defeating the Central Unit, you will get a new Omega Cannon and the game will show you how to aim and fire the weapon’s Omega Stream, which is key to defeating the EMMI.

Once you have the Omega Beam, leave through the door you entered through and prepare to confront the EMMI. Just as you used the Omega Stream to open the door, you will need to use it so that you can melt the protective face plating of the second EMMI off so that you can attack its core. Utilize the long hallways of the area to melt the faceplate off and charge the Omega Blaster shot to put the machine down once and for all. Make sure not to miss as doing so will quickly give the EMMI to close the distance and end Samus’ latest bounty hunt prematurely.

Metroid Dread is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
