As the year winds down to the last few months, the inevitable wave of game releases is upon us. As Nintendo’s releases follow suit, there’s only a handful of upcoming titles this holiday season. With only a few weeks away from Metroid Dread’s launch, Nintendo is priming their upcoming release quite well. With plenty of trailers and information-building hype, their latest look gives a much more in-depth analysis. Developed by Mercury Steam, the title follows the aesthetic of their last game, Metroid: Samus Returns. The new look gives a fresh idea of what the gameplay in Metroid Dread will be like. The new trailer also features some spoilers for certain upgrades and areas in the game. Posted to Twitter this morning was a Metroid Dread trailer showcasing some of the abilities and tools Metroid’s Samus will have at her disposal.

Which Samus Abilities Does the Metroid Dread Trailer Showcase?
Opening with looks at her returning abilities like the arm cannon and missiles, it quickly pivots to featuring new skills. Gaining the ability to shoot a barrage of missiles, a phase dash, and even invisibility. With some teases of returning upgrades like the speed booster, there’s a huge list of Samus abilities. In addition, the Metroid Dread trailer ends with an explanation of the Amiibo functionality for the title as well. With many upset by Metroid: Samus Returns Amiibo functionality locking off certain content, Metroid Dread will not have the same Amiibo issue. With the Metroid Samus and E.M.M.I. Amiibos providing an energy tank and missile tank respectively. Both amiibos functionalities are not needed for any completion or extra modes whatsoever. Launching on October 8, Metroid Dread releases in just under a month on Nintendo Switch.
