Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox was at the height of his career in 1998 when he received the heartbreaking news. His doctors diagnosed the actor with onset Parkinson’s disease. The actor shared the sad news publicly, revealing that he was hopeful at 62. Michael J. Fox shares that he has always made the most of his life.
“What I believed then and what I believe now, I might not put it in the same words, but you can do anything. Anything,” Fox said. “You don’t have to follow other people’s prognostications for what life is going to be. Life’s going to be what you make it,” he continued.
The actor also stated that he has always believed in himself. He wanted to do something to help others struggling with the disease, so he started the Michael J. Fox Foundation with his wife, Tracy Pollan. Together, they raised over $2 billion for Parkinson’s research.
Open to Returning To Acting
Michael’s diagnosis forced the actor into early retirement in 2020 due to deteriorating health. However, according to E Online, these days, he admits he is feeling good and is open to the thought of returning to acting. However, Michael J. Fox claims it must be for the right role. His disease would have to be taken into consideration.
The actor admits that every day is a challenge. He has a loving support system with his wife, children, family, and friends. “With the help of family, with the help of people I work with, I’ve been able to meet those challenges and go beyond them and do new things,” he said. Michael has a great attitude; fans say they hope to see him return to acting someday.
