Michelle Trachtenberg was left out of the 2025 Oscars memorial segment less than a week after her shocking and tragic death. The actress was reported dead on February 26 at just 39 years old. Trachtenberg, who was beloved by fans for her roles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl, Harriett The Spy, and more, left Hollywood reeling with news of her untimely passing. Sadly, she was not honored like many other late stars during the Academy Awards on Sunday night.
Page Six reports that Michelle Trachtenberg was completely snubbed from the “in Memoriam” part of the night at the 2025 Oscars. The show paid very special tribute to recently fallen stars such as Quincy Jones and Gene Hackman. However, the actress was nowhere to be seen in the heartfelt memorial clips.
Of course, fans immediately noticed Trachtenberg’s absence and didn’t hesitate to speak out about the situation on social media. Some deemed the oversight a slap in the face, as the actress had worked in Hollywood for decades since she was a young child.
Michelle Trachtenberg and Others Left Out of Oscars Memorial Tribute

“The disrespect from the Academy to not include Michelle Trachtenberg in the In Memoriam segment,” one person wrote via X.
“The Oscars are an absolute joke and have been for quite some time,” said another.
“She was totally forgotten along with others. This is not a good look for the Oscars. Get it together,” a third person commented.
“It’s a travesty,” a fourth comment read.
It was previously reported that Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant shortly before her death. In the months before her passing, she had hit back at fans who spoke out in concern about her thin frame.
Sadly, Trachtenberg wasn’t the only actor left out of the memorial. Candyman and Final Destination star Tony Todd was noticeably absent from the segment, as were Chance Perdomo, Tony Roberts, and Linda Lavin. Beloved actor Martin Mull and Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty were also snubbed at the Oscars, much to fans’ disappointment.
While Trachtenberg was never nominated for an Oscar, and was widely known for television roles, she also had her fair share of film credits. She even starred alongside well-known actors such as Rosie O’Donnell, Zac Efron, and Matthew Perry in movies. The pain of her death is still fresh. However, many considered leaving her out of the tribute a low blow.
Michelle Trachtenberg is still being honored by her fans despite the Oscar snub. Just one week after her tragic death, the actress is being remembered online and for her beloved body of work.
