A woman in Detroit, Michigan, was left astounded when her grandmother, whom she called “narcissistic,” allegedly went into her purse and took a picture of her baby’s Social Security number. According to her, she didn’t delete anything afterward.
The woman’s name is Destiny Williams, and she shared the confrontation on TikTok. She is from Salt Lake City, Utah, but she has recently been living with her family, including her grandmother, in Detroit, because she had no support at the time. She has posted about the toxic environment in the Michigan house, but this clip became her biggest, garnering 2 million views, 205,100 likes, and more than 2,400 comments.
The clip shows Destiny confronting her grandmother. Before she started recording, she said that the elderly woman had gone into her purse and taken a picture of her child’s Social Security number. This is, of course, dangerous, as someone with your Social Security number could commit identity theft.
In the clip, the grandmother is heard saying, repeatedly, “Don’t stand over me.” Meanwhile, Destiny continuously asked the elderly woman to delete the pictures. While she said she would, the grandmother still asked her to back up, accusing her of invading her “space.”
“You was in my space when you went in my purse and took his social and stuff out,” Destiny responded.
In a follow-up clip, Destiny is shown grabbing her grandmother’s purse. The woman snatched it back, escalating things further. Eventually, a man, the grandmother’s son, intervened and had her delete the pictures. Destiny, however, then said that she later checked and found that they were still in her grandmother’s phone.
Internet Asks Woman To Act
The video sparked multiple responses.
Many viewers told Destiny that she should take action against her grandmother. One said, “File a report.” Another one commented, “And this is how some of us were literally born with bad credit.” In another follow-up, Destiny detailed that she did call the police, but there was nothing they could do for her and her child.
Others suggested that the Michigan woman should cut ties with her grandmother for good. One viewer wrote, “Go zero contact.” Another one agreed, adding, “Girl, you’re being too nice.”
Currently, Destiny is planning on moving back to Utah, where she still has her apartment.
