Microsoft is set to release a new version of the Xbox home screen this week for an in-house testing phase. The franchise has been experimenting with Xbox home screens on consoles for quite some time. According to Microsoft’s senior product manager lead, Ivy Krislov, users can preview the new version of the Home experience in Alpha Skip Ahead, and Alpha rings.
Microsoft New Xbox Home Screen Testing Phase About to Start
Microsoft revamped the Xbox Home UI with wallpaper support and easy access to key parts of the Xbox Dashboard. The new Xbox Home UI moves app and game tiles further down, leaving more space for backgrounds to appear. A new responsive game graphic updates the background when you are with the app.
After taking in enough feedback from fans, Microsoft added it to the findings collected during the experiments. The Research labs tested hundreds of options before finding the right one after making and refining it with prototypes. It balances the experience, accessibility, features, and needs of the fan base.
According to Microsoft, this new version of Home makes it easier to navigate through the library. Additionally, it introduces a quick access menu to the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search, and settings. It allows you to quickly access your entire game library without having to navigate the normal Xbox dashboard.
Finally, With the responsive game art feature, there is an update for the default background. The art associated with each title displays when you hover over the tiles. It also reduces the size of some tiles; this simplifies the layout and allows users to see their backgrounds more clearly.
This experience is incomplete; therefore, you may see updates from your library or the Microsoft Store. The Microsoft team will continue working hard to adjust and improve these experiences.
