The Nether is a great place to find resources. Whether you are hunting for building materials, potion ingredients or Bastion Remnant loot, the Nether is an exciting area to explore. If you frequently explore the Nether in search of resources but end up dying often, you may find that you want to set your respawn point in the Nether instead. By doing this, you can quickly resume your adventures in this fiery dimension without having to travel back to your Nether portal. Thankfully, respawn anchors are available in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions to help you do this. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to make a respawn anchor in Minecraft.
How to Make a Respawn Anchor in Minecraft
To make a respawn anchor, you must craft it using a crafting table. You will not be able to fit the blocks you need in your 2×2 inventory crafting space. You will also need six blocks of crying obsidian and three blocks of glowstone. Regular obsidian blocks will not work for this recipe. Additionally, glowstone dust will not work for this recipe. However, you can use four dust to craft a glowstone block that you may use.
There are three ways you can find glowstone. The easiest way is by travelling to the Nether and harvesting it. Since glowstone blocks tend to spawn in clusters, you can find large amounts of glowstone scattered around the Nether. If you do not wish to farm glowstone in the Nether, you can trade with villagers or the wandering villager trader. However, this requires emeralds which may be difficult to obtain, especially if you do not have other items to trade in exchange. Finally, witches will occasionally drop glowstone dust, which you can use to craft glowstone blocks. While this is the least efficient method of gathering glowstone, you can obtain other resources such as gunpowder, redstone, sugar and potions.

There are also three ways you can find crying obsidian. The first method is from naturally-generated ruined portals you can encounter in the overworld. You will find golden blocks, obsidian, and a chest you can loot from these portals. The second source of crying obsidian is from Bastion Remnant chests, where you have a chance at finding anywhere between 1-8 blocks in each chest type. This is an easy method if you often travel through Bastion Remnants. Lastly, you can barter with piglins using gold ingots. While the chance is rare, you have nearly a 9% chance of obtaining anywhere between 1-3 crying obsidian every time you trade a gold ingot.
