Being locked in a rubber room with rats was no longer a meme for one unfortunate woman in Missouri, as she had mice living in her ceiling, eating away at it. The rodents are bold ones as well; these weren’t just scurrying little creatures who did their mischief when no humans were about. The woman was able to watch and film her unwanted neighbors gnaw their way through the top of her home.

Going by the username Frogwithindigestion on Reddit, the woman posted a clip on r/Wellthatsucks of a rodent going to town, its incisors chipping away at the ceiling’s plaster. The mice must be used to humans, as the one doing the chewing showed no reaction to having a light shone on it while it worked. Frogwithindigestion says she’s been attempting to get rid of the vermin for months now, but to no avail.

Reddit Believes This Missouri Homeowner Is in Dire Need of a Pet Cat

“Just when we think they’re gone, lo and behold they have just moved to the attic and have now begun eating holes in the ceiling,” she wrote in distress. Redditors tuning in to her post were more whimsical than concerned, with many making suggestions and jokes about her dire situation. The top, most-upvoted recommendation was that she needed a ceiling cat.

“Tell them to not do that,” sarcastically said one commenter. “Inflation is hitting everyone,” joked another. Corny jokes and old internet memes aside, one person gave the logical suggestion, telling Frogwithindigestion to “call an exterminator immediately before they chew through your electrical wiring and ceilings.” Another warned OP, saying, “Do NOT look up with your mouth open.”

Besides an entire rodent falling on her face if it falls through the ceiling, any waste produced by the mice could carry hantavirus, which would definitely be alarming. Going back to the cat recommendation, many Redditors agree that this Missouri woman could use a feline companion. Though, no one would want a cat getting stuck in the walls or ceiling while it’s trying to hunt down some pests.
