For the first time in the Call of Duty series, we have a Modern Warfare 3 Zombies! The new mode is called MWZ and features familiar characters like Soap and Kate Laswell from the Modern Warfare universe. The fresh MW3 Zombies mode experience combines DMZ and Black Ops Cold War‘s Outbreak. However, even if you’ve played these before, there are still some useful beginner’s tips you could use to get to know MW3 Zombies much faster in MWZ.
10. Don’t Stay Inside The Buildings For Long
(Updated on August 12, 2024 – updated links and format)
When you start playing the MW3 Zombies mode, you realize that you can slay every undead enemy with your base weapons or even a pistol. That’s because you’re in a level 1 threat zone, and the open world allows you to run away and shoot the zombies at ease.
However, if you’re trapped inside a house, that’s where the reanimated hostiles show their true power. Try to not stay inside the buildings for long, and always remember the ways outside before entering the building. This is a fundamental MW3 Zombies tip, but even I forget it while trying to purge the nests and loot the supply boxes inside.
9. Get To Know The Map
Aside from knowing which buildings you’re going into, you should also know more about the new Urzikestan map in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. Spend some time shifting gears in a car and explore the next Warzone map for yourself. This will help you a lot when trying to escape the zombies in high-threat zones.
8. Raid Nests For Aether Tools
Spawning in the game, you’ll find some buildings that are infected by a nest. Get inside and try to clean it by shooting the glowing yellow things that are around the area. Once you’ve purged the place, you’ll be rewarded with ammo mods, perks, and valuable loot inside the Aether chests. This will also help you find the items you need for completing missions in MW3 – Modern Warfare 3 Zombies.
7. Level Up Your Weapons Before Entering High Threat Zones
Looking up the map in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode, you’ll see three zones in three different colors. The solid one is the level 1 threat zone with easy-to-kill zombies. The orange color is for level 2, and the nightmares begin in the red level 3 zone at the center. The deeper you go, the better the rewards. However, you must have upgraded your weapons with a Pack A Punch at least once before entering these areas.
6. Always Bring A Vehicle With You
Just like in DMZ, the new MWZ mode also has a time limit for each match. After around 40 minutes, gas starts spreading around the area, turning zombies into unbeatable beasts!
This is a fight against the clock, and you must do your missions and objectives, like upgrading weapons and getting looted as quickly as possible. But you’d need a lift to travel across the map to be fast. You’ll also benefit from having a vehicle with you in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies when trying to exfil from the map.
5. Shoot The Orbs!
Moving around the map, you’ll encounter some purple floating orbs in the air. These are Aether orbs, and shooting them rewards you with cash and valuable items. Sometimes, you might even get a perk or an ammo mod after you defeat the floating Aether bubble gum. But remember this tip in MW3 Zombies mode: the Aether orbs won’t just stand still for you to shoot them down, so it is always better to switch to semi-auto firing mode and have your teammates shoot it, too.
4. Beat The Clock With Schematics
The gear schematics are a new addition to the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode. You can use these blueprints to craft items like soda perks, ammo mods, or even a Ray Gun for free! Before starting each match, you can browse your inventory and craft items to use them. This MW3 Zombies tip will give you more time for not having to purchase perks and weapon upgrades.
3. Don’t Forget The Good Old Mystery Box
Finding weapons is pretty easy in the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. You’ve got the Wall Buys, insured weapons of your gunsmith, and the friendly mercenaries who drop items for you after you kill them, of course.
However, you can always look up in the sky and find the Mystery Box to pay 950 points and grab a gear. These boxes randomly give you a weapon; most of them are good ones to use and later have in your inventory as contrabands.
2. The Enemies Still Have Those Weapon Stashes From DMZ
If you’re looking for a three-plate armor and a rare weapon to fight zombies from the start, then you should be looking for a stash contract. These raiding objectives give you the task of attacking an enemy’s base that has a stash inside it. Break that safe, and you’ll be rewarded with armor, backpacks, and guns to weaponize your operator.
1. Exfil As Soon As You’re Done
The importance of successful exfil is beyond imagination in MW3 – Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. It is an easy thing you can do anytime within the game, but once you’re drowned in doing missions and getting upgrades, you might just forget this basic thing: Remember, if you die, all the items and valuable schematics you’ve worked for will go away.
So, as soon as you’ve got a valuable blueprint, stowed perk, or anything worth keeping for the next match, exfil immediately. Note that you can not bring any wonder weapons from the game with you in MWZ.
