My Happy Marriage: A Love Story that Captivated Fans
The My Happy Marriage light novel series was first launched in January 2019. From there, it quickly gained popularity. Yen Press has acquired the license to publish light novels in English. The synopsis for the story reads;
IS THIS MARRIAGE A BLESSING? OR A CURSE? Born talentless to a noble family famous for their supernatural abilities, Miyo Saimori is forced into an existence of servitude. This is all at the hands of her abusive stepmother. When Miyo finally comes of marriageable age, though, her hopes of being whisked away to a better life crumble after she discovers her fiancé’s identity: Kiyoka Kudou. He is a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous would-be brides all fled within three days of their engagements. With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate and soon finds that her husband-to-be is anything but a monster. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, both realize the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.
In December 2018, a manga adaptation of the series by Rito Kohsaka premiered on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website. Square Enix Manga & Books has been releasing the manga physically and digitally.
Additionally, Japan released a live-action film based on the novels on March 17. The film made a strong impact, ranking first in its opening weekend and selling 479,700 tickets. Altogether it earned a remarkable 654 million yen (approximately US$4.97 million) in its first three days.
To the delight of fans worldwide, Netflix has confirmed that they will be streaming the “My Happy Marriage” anime series globally starting on July 5. This announcement ensures that audiences beyond Japan can join in on the excitement and experience the captivating story firsthand.
