The powerhouse anime Jujutsu Kaisen has once again found itself in the trending spot on social media. As Gege Akutami regularly updates the manga, fans are still divided on where they stand with their favorite characters. Many, on the other hand, are still trying to cope with the events and deaths that have happened so far. Similar to the prequel movie, season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will focus on the insanely popular Satoru Gojo and his past with Suguru Geto.
Although many fans love the high school characters that he currently takes care of, many anime-only fans are still left in the dark about how important Gojo and his past are to the overall story. Without a doubt, the “Gojo’s Past” arc is important in shaping the overall story and motivation for everyone involved.
Season 2’s plot will take place in 2006. It will center around second-year high school student Gojo and his best friend, Geto. As students themselves, they are tasked with the job of escorting and protecting a young girl named Riko Amanai. Along with seeing younger versions of beloved adult characters, fans are also expected to see another side of Gojo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: A Rollercoaster of Emotions
Note: This section contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen
As previously said by studio MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is 24 episodes. Along with Gojo’s past, the season will also adapt the insanely popular Shibuya Incident Arc. This arc shook fans to the core, with Kenjaku (and, by association Geto) finally making their moves. Working together with a handful of curses, the teachers and students of Jujutsu Tech are doing a lot worse than they could ever imagine. Not only is the duo a force to be reckoned with, but there is still the lingering problem of Sukuna to deal with.
As current manga readers know, the King of Curses is less than motivated to help Itadori. After all, he stays true to his word about acting in his own best interest and doesn’t mind throwing wrenches in everyone’s plans. His most current trick (too recent of a spoiler to mention) left many fans distraught and running for emotional support. Yet another fan-favorite character has been lost with a very slim hope of return. Fans can only hope that he is nicer to this one than he has been to characters in the past. Still, anything is faster than how long it took Akutami to release Gojo from his imprisonment box (1,188 days, to be exact).
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is set to premiere on July 6th, 2023. It will be available for simulcast via Crunchyroll. Season 1 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is also available on the same site.
