After 22 seasons in the NBA, basketball fans should no longer be surprised about what LeBron James is capable of. James recently turned 40 years old. However, that has not stopped LBJ from going out every night and putting on a show. Although James has done incredible things for over two decades at a professional level, sometimes fans might just wanna sit back and “Witness Greatness.” Well, that’s what basketball fans around the globe got to do just last night. The King was cooking, and social media couldn’t get enough of it.
According to Sports Illustrated, last night, LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers took on a heavily injured Dallas Mavericks team. The Mavs were without Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. However, no starting backcourt was no problem for the Mavs, as they stormed the Lakers with a fury of points to end the game in an L.A. loss with a final score of 97-118.
However, despite the loss, James had arguably the NBA’s dunk of the year. After a teammate’s offensive rebound and pass to the top of the key, James would come crashing down the lane like a freight train. Mavs players, desperate to steal a win, attempted to contest the shot. However, James would switch hands mid-air and still throw the hammer down. The source then states, “LeBron isn’t slowing down anytime soon.”
Fans React to NBA Star LeBron James’ Gravity Deifying Dunk Against the Mavericks
Basketball fans around the world then took to social media to get another look at the dunk that should be impossible for a 40-year-old in the 22nd season to pull off.
“Superhuman,” said one.
“He’s FORTY YEARS OLD,” wrote another.
Finally, another excited fan stated, “The King just told gravity: ‘Not today, peasant.”
Fans of the sport seemed very excited that they got to witness such an amazing showcase of athleticism and longevity.
James has been on a tear since he returned from injury. However, the Lakers are still struggling. There has been speculation that LBJ could potentially want to be traded at the deadline. Although nothing has been confirmed. If not, James also has a player option in his contract for the 2025-26 season. Many believe that Bron is headed out, and it seems like many Lakers fans want him gone.
Could the King be going home to an extremely talented Cleveland Cavaliers team? Could LeBron James be exactly what the Cavs need to be pushed over the top? Can they become clear-cut NBA Finals favorites? The way James still runs the NBA, anything could happen. Will The King find a new home soon?
