Actor Mark Hamill is facing backlash online after posting an image that appeared to depict an imagined scenario involving a “deceased” Donald Trump.
Mark Hamill is widely known for his work in the Star Wars saga, Batman: The Animated Series, and Regular Show, among other projects. The actor has largely stepped away from X in recent years and is now active on Bluesky, where he shared the controversial image.
In the image, which appeared to be AI-generated, Trump is depicted lying in a grave with a headstone reading “Donald J. Trump” alongside the years “1946–2024.” The image also included the phrase “If Only” written above it. Following the post, some online users interpreted it as Hamill expressing a wish that Trump were dead.
Alongside the image, Hamill wrote in the caption, “If Only- He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON.”

While Mark Hamill received support from some users on Bluesky, reactions were more critical after screenshots of the post circulated on X among supporters of Donald Trump. Some users accused the actor of wishing harm on Trump and called for authorities to investigate the post. One person wrote, “Mark Hamill posted an image on Bluesky appearing to show a dec*ased President Trump with the words ‘If Only’ overlaid. The post came less than two weeks after the THIRD assassination attempt on 47. I hope the @FBI is looking into this. Pure evil.”
More users criticized Hamill over the post. One person wrote, “Mark lost his mind after becoming famous playing the role of Luke in Star Wars. The money must have gotten to him, and he definitely became a heavy drinker which distorted his thinking.” Another commenter wrote, “These [expletive] think MAGA dies with Trump. Trump is Trump.
